Fireworks light up July 4

Fourth of July just isn’t Fourth of July without fireworks.

To be certain that our nation’s birthday is properly celebrated, there will be at least four fireworks displays in the Logan Martin Lake area.

The fun starts July 1 around 8:30 p.m. in the water out from Woods Surfside Marina in Cropwell.

At 9 p.m. July 3, fireworks will be launched from the point at Clear Creek Harbor in Talladega.

An event 5-9 p.m. July 4 at Veterans Park in Talladega will include fireworks as well.

Then, the very popular fireworks spectacular at Lakeside Park in Pell City begins at approximately 9 p.m. July 4.

For that event, both Lakeside Park and Pell City Sports Complex will be open to accommodate the crowd. Many spectators prefer to view the fireworks by boat from the water.

Harold “Bubba” Edge, Jr., director of Pell City Parks and Recreation, said the show will last about 20 minutes. The display, featuring 641 items, is the handiwork of Pyro Shows of Alabama.
