Thousands of boats make their way into the main channel to get the best possible vantage point. Thousands more in cars, trucks and on foot get as close as they can to Lakeside Park. And when the sun goes down about 8:30 p.m. on July 4, a spectacular fireworks show lights up the nighttime sky over the lake.

The show is courtesy of the City of Pell City to celebrate Independence Day each year, and has grown into one of the largest and most popular regional events. This year, the city is investing more funds in the show to lengthen it and make it bigger and better than ever.

There is parking — first come, first served — at Lakeside Park and the sports complex at the Pell City Civic Center. Parking also stretches all around Alabama 34 and US 231.
When the sun goes down, you won’t want to miss this fireworks show. It is the perfect ending to the day that celebrates the birth of our nation.
